Think your dog won’t behave?

Shhhhh, I’m going to let you in on a secret: most of the dogs on this website were photographed with their leashes on. No special training required!

“I’m not photogenic.”
”I need to lose 10 lbs.”
”I have no idea what to wear.”

You aren’t alone - I hear these excuses a lot. But trust me: you are beautiful just the way you are, and you deserve to exist in portraits. Genuine expressions, flattering light, and proper posing - these are all ways I’ll help you look and feel your best!

Meet Megan

As a wife and mom to 2 dogs and 2 kids, I know how important family is. I create meaningful portraits of dogs and the people who love them - smiles guaranteed!

Imagine this…

It's a rainy Sunday afternoon, and your dog Buddy curls up next to you as you flip through the 1,837 pictures of him stored on your iPhone, transporting you to frisbee games by the lake, walks along the bayou trail, and that time he chewed your favorite pair of red heels.

Buddy’s been with you through the ups and downs of life, always with a smile, and is an integral part of your family.  But suddenly you realize you don't have a single printed photo of your loyal furbaby!

That was me.  Eager to document the head tilts and soulful eyes of our first children, I hired a professional photographer to do just that!  In doing so, I learned that decorating with personal photographs transformed our house into a home, and those sweet memories give me more joy than generic or trendy artwork ever could.

Fast forward several years… our dogs’ portraits still hang prominently in the family room, flanked by new portraits showing how our family has grown over the years. Let me help you decorate your home with unconditional love.

Part of the family.

I cannot speak enough on Megan’s artistry, talent, and kindness. Megan came through for our family when we discovered our precious Aussie Shepherd Minnie had bone cancer, and turned a very difficult time into beautiful tangible memories of our sweet old girl. From booking to ordering, Megan truly cares about each of her clients and is attuned to your individual needs. I promise you won’t regret letting her become part of the family!

You might be wondering…

+ My dog isn't very obedient. Will we be able to get good photos?

Don't worry! Training isn't required to achieve great images. I have worked with a variety of different dog personalities - patience, space, treats, noises, and toys go a long way towards turning your pet into a supermodel! Most of the dogs featured on my website were photographed with leashes on. If the leash distracts from the image, many times it can be removed in post-processing.

+ Do you photograph families with their dogs?

Absolutely yes! I always encourage families to include their dogs, as they're part of the family and those memories of you with your best friend are priceless.

+ Where will my session be?

We'll discuss the best location for your session during the planning consulation. My studio is conveniently located near downtown Houston. The city and surrounding suburbs offer a wide variety of urban and rural settings, so we are sure to find the perfect spot for your on-location photo session.

+ How can I display my images?

Great question! Most clients choose at least one portrait to hang on the wall, and then put the rest of their favorite images in an album or portfolio box. I’ll be your design consultant and help you select the sizes and finishes to complement your space. With your artwork purchase, you'll also receive the matching digital file(s), which can be used for archiving, personal printing, and sharing on social media.

+ Why should I choose Megan Murray Photography?

It can be difficult to choose the perfect photographer for your family. I specialize in creating portraits of dogs and the people who love them and providing my clients with a personalized experience resulting in beautiful, tangible artwork.

+ How much should I expect to spend on my portraits?

Individual pet portraits start at $400 for a 30-minute studio session. Full custom sessions start at $1400. Your total investment depends on the type of session, how many images you fall in love with, and how you decide to ultimately display them.

+ I only want 1 or 2 photos. Do you offer mini-sessions?

Yes, shorter sessions are held periodically for studio pet portraits and headshots. For families, the extra time spent planning and photographing in a custom session ensures that we capture everyone at their best without feeling rushed. Get in touch to discuss what type of session is best for your needs.

Exactly what we were looking for

Megan is easygoing, patient, and super easy to relate to being a mom to both pups and kids. The pictures were exactly what we were looking for - a mix of posed and candid in one of our favorite locations.
