CAMO Rescue 2021 Calendar

Let me tell you about a special dog…

Last fall, I photographed a fluffy little black & white dog named Mac for a publication. He was upbeat, curious, and so easygoing - I would’ve never guessed all the hardships he’d been through.

CAMO rescue dog - happy tails story

THE BEFORE

You see, he’d been surrendered to a big shelter, unkempt and unable to walk. Upon shaving his fur, they discovered a bowling ball sized tumor on Mac’s side. His condition was serious, and the shelter would not be able to provide the specialized veterinary care he needed.

THE RESCUE

Thankfully CAMO Rescue (Citizens for Animals of Midland Odessa) stepped up to the plate and pulled Mac from the shelter, dedicated to giving him a second chance. He underwent surgery, and the 9-pound mass was successfully removed. Then came the long road to recovery where Mac learned to walk again and put on much needed body weight - never once complaining.

THE AFTER

I think these images speak for themselves. Mac transformed into such a happy go lucky boy and was adopted by the sweetest family with several dog siblings! We had such a fun evening exploring and playing around his family’s home. And y’all know I’m a sucker for an underbite!!

ABOUT CAMO RESCUE

CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization devoted to rescuing dogs from high kill shelters in Houston, Odessa/Midland, and the surrounding areas.  CAMO is comprised of volunteers who span a range of ages, professions, and experience levels, but who are brought together by a love of animals and devotion to saving the lives of homeless animals by getting them off euthanasia lists and into forever families.

GIVING BACK

Rescue groups can’t function without the support of volunteers and donors. I was inspired by Mac’s story and invite you to join me in giving back to CAMO rescue.

We’re happy to announce a calendar contest fundraiser!  Proceeds from this contest will go towards the medical fund for spay/neuter, vaccines, surgeries, broken bones, and illnesses of dogs rescued from euthanasia lists.

Submit your favorite photo of your dog (all dogs welcome!) and ask your family and friends to vote for them. Thirteen dogs will be photographed by yours truly and featured in the 2021 calendar!

Update

The calendar contest fundraiser was a huge success, raising $15,000 for CAMO Rescue! That money was put to good use, as CAMO is currently building a kennel facility in Magnolia, TX. The 2021 calendars are available for purchase and here are the 13 featured dogs:
