The Joybringer Project: A Decade of Dogs

Good Dog. Great Joy.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Megan Murray Photography, and I wanted to do something a little different to celebrate. Something that brought me back to where this whole business started.

Dogs, of course! And that's how The Joybringer Project came to life.

Why the Joybringer Project?

When I started my photography business in 2016, I photographed dogs exclusively. And while my business has grown in many directions since then, dogs will always have a special place in my heart.

To mark this milestone, I wanted to return to my roots and celebrate the dogs who remind us to find joy in the little things. The result was The Joybringer Project, a collection of dog portraits and stories concluding in a gallery exhibition.

Meet the Joybringers

Every Joybringer has a story.

Some are goofy. Some are a little (or a lot!) spoiled. Some have overcome difficult beginnings. Some have been with their families for years, while others found their people later in life.

But every single one has made someone's everyday life better.

One of my favorite parts of this project was reading the stories their families shared. There were plenty of funny quirks, favorite toys, and ridiculous habits, but also some really meaningful reflections on what these dogs have brought into their lives.

Here are the Joybringers who helped me celebrate this milestone!

The Joybringer Exhibition

On September 17, 2026, we celebrated with a gallery exhibition at Sabine Street Studios in Houston.

I've created thousands of photographs and decorated hundreds of homes with wall art over the last decade, but I'd never seen so many of my finished pieces displayed together. Standing back and taking it all in was a real “Wow. I did this!” moment.

I was incredibly proud of how the exhibition came together. Guests commented that the portraits almost looked three-dimensional, and the little gallery cards offering a glimpse into each dog’s personality were a big hit.

But even better was bringing my dog-loving clients together. I loved watching everyone mingle, share stories, and discover new connections. I only wish I'd had more time to visit with everyone!

Ten Years of Gratitude

One of the best parts of this business has been the relationships I've built along the way.

To everyone who participated in The Joybringer Project or joined us for the exhibition, thank you for being part of this special celebration.

To my photographer friends, thank you for teaching, encouraging, and inspiring me over the years.

To my family, especially my husband, thank you for supporting this unexpected career of mine in more ways than I can count.

And to all my clients, thank you for trusting me with your memories and inviting me back over the years to document your important milestones.

Ten years ago, I never imagined this is where life would take me. I'm proud of what I've built, grateful for the people who made it possible, and excited for what's next!

The Joy Continues

The Joybringer Project may be complete, but there are plenty more good dogs and great stories worth photographing.

If you've been thinking about having portraits made of your own dog, I'd love to meet you.

Here's to a decade of dogs, and many more!
